Southwest Manitoba Mixed Grass Prairie Migratory Bird Sanctuary

This Important Bird Area (IBA) includes important habitat for grassland specialist birds such as Sprague’s Pipit, Ferruginous Hawk, Chestnut-collared Longspur and Loggerhead Shrike. Remaining mixed-grass prairie should be retained and restored under the protection of a Migratory Bird Sanctuary together combined with enhanced stewardship agreements with local landowners and communities.
